REUBEN AND THE DARK
Calgary's Reuben and the Dark is a collection of five multi-instrumentalists and vocalists led by Reuben Bullock. The group makes chilling, emotive folk and soul driven by dark, introspective lyrics that explore the duality of misery and joy.
Boasting a rare chemistry between all members across western Canada, Reuben and the Dark has emerged organically from Canada's stellar independent scene on the strength of often anthemic compositions that translate the language of emotion into song with haunting clarity.
"Back in December, we spent a day at OCL Studios playing a very intimate show. This was the first time we had ever done something like this. It was a chance for the audience to experience what it is like to be in a studio during the recording process. We packed 50 people into the room with us and gave everyone a set of headphones. We recorded 5 songs "live off the floor" and it turned out better than we could have imagined… There was something special about having all that energy in one little room. Some good friends came in and film the whole thing and we are excited to now be able to share that session with all of you." -Reuben Bullock
