Rosie Award for Best Musical or Variety Program
Yesterday we attended the Alberta Media Production Industries Association (AMPIA) 2016 Rosie Awards, where the extended cut of our Take Five series with Reuben and the Dark was nominated for Best Musical or Variety Program.
This Take Five session with Reuben and the Dark was the very first Take Five we ever did. Dan had an idea, he told the crew about it, and Reuben mentioned that he happened to have a good friend who was also a fantastic cinematographer and director. He introduced us to Brock Mitchell of DDG, who came in with a crew and filmed. We didn't really know how he would interpret our vision until a while later, after all the work people don't see was already done, and he was ready to show us the final cuts. Brock expertly weaved together interviews with Reuben, the music they recorded, an ambient shots of all the beautiful people in the room. It was better than we could have imagined!
Having your friend win an award for their hard work is a very special feeling, and we were very lucky to have been there to celebrate with Brock when he received his award. Thank you Brock for your collaboration, and we look forward to many, many more project together.
We'd also like to congratulate Jung People for take home the Rosie for Best Original Musical Score for their work on Empyrean. It was awesome having them do their work in our Studio!
